Again and again

After working on my Coziest Memory blanket for a bit I realized that the squares were much too small and alternating directions for the mitered square line isn’t going to work for me. I wasn’t sure I liked the obvious decrease lines on the blanket and figured a more quilt like effect would be interesting. But of course I kept forgetting which direction I was working on so I kept having to restart squares over and over again. To address that I’ve just fully restarted. I’m now holding the yarn double, using a US size 8 needle, and all the decreases are going in the same direction. I’m not far on it yet but I think this is a better plan for me. I will say I’m already having to weave in ends because if I leave them all to the end, it’ll never happen.

I love the effect of the yarn held double. My friend did an excellent job of dying the yarn and I’m curious to know how all the squares come out. I do have some of the white base so if I start to run low on yarn for this project I can always ask her to dye some more.

In other news, we have a BIG trip coming. My papa is travelling to Japan for work and, as it’s my husband’s dream trip, I started asking about us joining. One thing lead to another and now we’ll be in Japan in just over a month. I’m so stinkin’ excited for it. I’ve been looking at yarn stores, stationary shops, and places to get tea. I’ve been given a huge list of suggestions from my ex husband but I will happily take any other suggestions that anyone wants to offer.

Happy knitting!
