I did it! I finished my mitts despite the mistakes and knit block I was feeling. Over the weekend I sat outside to enjoy the weather, listen to The Hobbit, and work on my second mitt. With some dedicated knitting time it didn’t take me too long to finish it off.
I will say that I was a bit surprised by how much dye came out as soaked them for blocking. I didn’t get any pictures of the water that came out but it was neon green for the main soak and several rinses. I’ve got them pinned out to dry in shape but I want to pull out the skein and compare with the mitts so I can see if I can tell a color difference after washing.
In other news, I got to cat-sit for my ex. While we were together we decided that we wanted a second cat for Beau to have a companion, we even discussed names and liked the name Poppy the best. When we got to the SPCA my ex immediately fell in love with a tabby kitten who headbutted and snuggled him. After some discussion, we went to check out her profile and discovered she was already named Poppy. It felt like fate so we adopted her. When we split he kept Poppy and I kept Beau but, thanks to our willingness to maintain a friendship, I’ve always had an open invitation to visit her and right of first refusal when he goes out of town and needs someone to watch her. I love being able to be with her still.
