Hat for hubby

Now that I’ve finished my Beeswax mitts I wanted to do something different so I didn’t get sick of the beeswax cable pattern. So in light of that, I’ve cast on a Musselburgh by Ysolda Teague for my husband. I had picked up some Universal Yarn Fawning in the colorway Cranberry because it was a perfect color for him and we discussed options. We had debated Jason’s Cashmere Hat
by Melissa Thomson
but he wanted something slouchy. The Musselburgh seem perfect for this as I can make it longer and he can adjust the slouchiness to his tastes. I’ve got most of the crown increases done already.

I did have to go by my favorite local yarn store, Warm ‘n Fuzzy, for a pair of 16 inch circular needles. While I was there of course I got got by some lovely yarn. I picked up Sewrella Yarn Classic DK in the colorway You All Over Me.

I have some brown fiber that I’m not loving as a spinning project and that needs a new purpose. So I’m thinking of taking this beautiful blue and pairing it with the light brown fiber to make a pair of thrummed mittens. I know I’ve just made a pair of mitts but I don’t care. You can never have enough warm handknits.

In cat news, my ex husband is building us some floating shelves and the trial run was last night. As our heaviest cat, Ash was the tester and I’m delighted to say that he loves them! He sat there happily for quite a while before jumping down for dinner. I’m sure they’ll be excited when all the shelves are installed and they can chase each other across the walls. We’ll see how excited hubby and I are about that when they’re chasing each other in the early hours of the morning.
