Distraction knitting

I’ve still been working with McMullin Fiber Co to get the replacement yarn for the one that leaked all over my fingers. She warned me it would take a week or two to get what I was looking for dyed and sent out. I’m pretty excited about my new color selections and the project in general so I’ve been working on a pair of socks as a small side project in the meantime.

A modified version of the Dead Simple Lace socks

I got Socks from the Toe Up as a Christmas gift in 2022 and this is my first time working on a project from it. My gauge wasn’t right on so I just used the Dead Simple Lace sock pattern as inspiration and modified it to fit the stitches I had on my needles. It is dead simple but satisfying and nice looking. Normally I knit socks two at a time but this time I opted to go with one at a time to make them easier to travel with. I’ve been feeding my parent’s cat while they’re away and keep carrying the socks back and forth. Since they’re gone for so long I’ve been trying to spend a decent amount of time with him. The socks have been a perfect project for this.

Sonoma is unsure
He warmed up to me

I started these socks on the 14th and have finished the first one yesterday, March 18th. I haven’t started on the second one yet but I’m planning to cast on over my lunch break. Hopefully the second sock will go quickly but not so quickly that I need to find a new distraction before my McMullin yarn gets here.

I love shorties
