Speedrunning some lace

I’ve reached the lace edge of my Duchess of Devonshire shawl. It’s a fairly simple lace pattern but it requires more focus than the body so I have slowed down a bit. Thankfully there’s currently an event going on on Twitch.TV called Awesome Games Done Quick that we love to watch. It’s where players speedrun through a huge variety of games while viewers donate to charity. It happens twice a year and I always get a ton of knitting done while it’s happening because I’m pretty glued to the couch. Sadly they’re not playing my favorite game this year (Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past) but they’re still playing lots of games I’m interested in. I’m trying to let it motivate me to speed through the lace edging.

Love that wave!

Since I’m reaching the end of this project I’ve started looking at my next. The spicy mood tracker scarf will be a year long project and I’m not feeling the bias wrap. I’m looking at knitting another sweater and have decided on Anecee by Melina Hami. It’s a whole heck of a lot of seed stitch but I think I’m up for it.

I’ve purchased some Valley Yarns Westfield in the colorway amethyst from Webs for my new sweater. They’re apparently having some slowness in shipping things out so it hasn’t reached me yet but that’s okay because I still have some of my shawl to finish. Looking forward to new yarn and new project even though I know it’s a big one that will take me ages.

Last week I also discovered that the Carolina Fiber Fair classes were open so I registered for a “Socks that Fit” class. I enjoy knitting socks but don’t wear my hand knit socks often because they don’t tend to fit well. Hopefully this class will help with that problem and give me some simple projects to work on while I push through all that seed stitch in Anecee.

  1. You’re in the home stretch and it looks SO GOOD! Also can’t wait to see your new yarn when it arrives because it sounds like it’s purple and I love anything purple 😀

I would guess they’ll cover heels as an important part of the class. They make such a difference with fit. (I have a high arch and most of the short-row heels don’t fit me well but I only learned that after a lot of sock knitting because I love using short-row heels with contrast yarn!)

    • It is purple! Still hasn’t shipped yet. I didn’t realize how important heel fit was. I have a bunch of socks but only enjoy wearing a couple of them. We’ll see. It’s not until March
