Vacation plans and yarn mail

Finally I’m on vacation! I will admit that I’ve already checked my email a couple times but I’m doing well so far to not engage with work. The day started off well with some yarn mail! Birch Grove had a shop update recently that I just could not resist. They posted the colorway on Instagram and I knew I had to have it. It’s a 80/20 merino/nylon blend called Amethyst. I do think I’ll make some socks with it but I tend towards shorties so I’ll probably either get more than one pair from it or have some leftovers for hexipuffs.

Speaking of hexipuffs, I have not completed any more since my last update. I’ve been working on my advent wrap project. It doesn’t look much different than last time but I’m progressing through it. I do wish that the red weren’t quite so harsh a block but I can’t do anything about it so I’m going to have to live with it.

I’ll be excited to return home and share new pictures from vacation. Part of our trip includes a scenic train ride so I’m hoping I’ll have some solid knitting time while we travel along the Nantahala river. We’re doing a moonshine tasting while on the train and I cannot wait. I’m not much of a drinker but this is something different and new that we wouldn’t have done otherwise. Happy knitting everyone!

  1. I keep thinking it would be fun to take a train trip. I’m afraid I’d get bored seeing basically the same thing day after day. The moonshine tasting does sound fun.
