I’ve been very good at spinning everyday of Tour de Fleece so far. I took yesterday off as it was a rest day, but I’ve spun everyday beyond that and even challenged myself to a new technique (chain plying) as is part of the event. The chain plying didn’t go all that great but what does on a first attempt? I’ve already posted my Midnight Moonshine review of that yarn. It does feel good to try something new. I feel like it’s very common to want to save fiber/yarn until you’re “good enough” to use it, but that puts such pressure on the fiber and on yourself to do something perfectly every time. I feel like it’s better to use the things I’ve got when they inspire me, not just when I’m skilled enough to use them.
In wanting to use what I have and what is inspiring me, I started Faded Indigo from Created by Elsie B.
I haven’t spun much of it yet but it’s going smoothly so far and is a beautiful blue.
I’m really looking forward to continuing to push myself and spin everyday of the event. I will admit that I have been missing my knitting a bit more recently but nothing is truly stopping me from doing both. Just the time left in the day after work seems so limited. If only I could spin and knit all day and not need a job. Maybe hangout at a cat rescue. That’s the dream.
