The Shieldmaiden shawl is coming to an end. At this moment I have 5 pattern rows left. They take at least 30 minutes so I’ve still got hours to go but it’s coming along. I did have to join more yarn last round, which is a bit of a shame because I was so close to getting away with only using one skein of this lovely yarn, but I’m glad I had yarn available to add. Can you imagine if I’d gotten so close to the end then run out? Nightmare…
It’s getting hard to show off. It’s all bunched up on the needles but I tried to stretch it out to show off the lace pattern. The pattern is delightful. Though I will say, I’m a bit annoyed at how often to stitch markers move. The pattern makes no mention that they might but I found someone else who commented on it on Ravelry so I know it’s not just me.
I’m getting hopeful that I will finish in time to enter it into the Carolina Fiber Festival fiber arts competition. It’s daunting to put that in writing because what if I don’t finish in time but if I miss this year then I’ll just enter it next year. That said, I think I’m going to make it. The goal is March 9th so I can properly wet block and let it dry. Wish me luck!

Best wishes as you reach the end of your shawl. It’s beautiful.
