Some progress

I haven’t made a ton of progress on my Side by Side sweater but I’ve gotten some work done on it.

I got a little stuck starting section 3 but found that they had done a KAL for this sweater so there are videos on each step. That was helpful and got me going again.

I did do some organization this week. I pulled out all my yarn onto my office couch and slowly put it all away while confirming each skein was in Ravelry. I found one that had been missed (ironically from “Forgotten Fibers”) but everything else was already properly listed. I have a lot of yarn but not so much that I feel overwhelmed by it. I’m not sure how I ended up with so much white yarn (might sell that) but the rest is dominated by cool colors (lots and lots of purple).

I also pulled out some sock yarn from the stash to start a quick pair of Thanksgiving socks. I couldn’t decide at first so I polled my crafty friends with the below picture on which they thought I should work with.

The Birch Grove set won by a landslide so I wound that up and cast on a simple sock. I’m thinking of doing something like the Show-off Stranded Socks by Anne Campbell. I’ve knit them before and the stranded pattern is simple and satisfying. I just want something that I can knit while hanging out with families over Thanksgiving. The sweater is a home project at this point. I’m looking forward to some time off to do some quality knitting. We’ll see if that means sock or sweater. Or both.

  1. Does having your yarn on Ravelry help you know what projects to start next? I try not to stash up too much or I get over whelmed. I have two projects on the way that I recently added to my Ravelry. One is a sweater vest (you have inspired me to try a piece of clothing) and the other is a Tee. Not sure what I was thinking with the second one but I’ll give it a go.

I wish I could knit socks. I did one pair with a KAL and they turned out fine but to sit and knit without thinking about it… what a mess I’d have.

Your sweater is coming along nicely! Remember, your my inspiration! LOL! Can’t wait to see the finished product.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    • Having my yarn on Ravelry helps me immensely. Whenever I get bored at work I do pattern searches based on weight and yardage and find future project ideas.

You should try a piece of clothing! You can totally do this. You’re making me want to go home and work on my sweater just so I can show some more progress next week. 🙂
