Border blues and Christmas knitting

I’ve reached the border of my French Cancan. I kind of wish the pattern was done a bit differently but I think it’ll block into something I’ll enjoy. It certainly is soft.

It’s going to take me ages. I think I mentioned that I’ve knit this once before but I’d definitely forgotten that the border goes slowly. But it’s lovely and I’ll live. Just a matter of sitting down and working through it.

Next up is the Belhaven Cowl by Ysolda Teague, I believe. I have some Butterfly’s Web Sparkle Fingering that I think will work nicely. It has a subtle sparkle to it that’s just beautiful. I got it at a yarn shop in Charlotte, NC while on a vacation. My notes say it’s a limited edition yarn because the dyer was going to go tango across the world. She may have been kidding with me but it’s a neat thing to do if not.

I also picked up some yarn for the Side by Side Sweater by Susanne Sommer. It’s not here yet but I got some La Bien Aimée Corrie Confetti in the colorway Greybow 4 for it. I know I’m going to want to start it as soon as the yarn gets here but I have Christmas knitting to do (I won’t say what) so it’ll have to wait a bit. Hopefully I’ll still be interested when the time comes.

  1. You have some great projects picked out with some pretty yarn! Looking forward to seeing the Side by Side sweater! I’m working on a blanket that is going to take me a very long time. It’s 60 inches wide by 60ish inches tall… I’m only 15 inches into it. Happy knitting!

  2. You are brave to do Christmas knitting. Being on a deadline stresses me out so I usually don’t gift knit. While I knit for others, they get it when they get it. One of the reasons I mainly knit for adults. If I missed the season it would be worn, there’s next year.😉

    • Fortunately everyone I’m knitting for for my husband’s family is adult and understanding. But it is a bummer when I feel obligated to knit on something with a deadline for sure
