I’m glad I stuck with the Travel Mode 2.0 shawl. I finished on August 22nd (my 34th birthday!) and got to show it off over the weekend to my friends and the women at the yarn store.
I was originally debating to do an i-cord border but in the end I feel like it looks complete without it. I blocked it in anticipation of stretching it out for the i-cord border but I was so pleased with it as is. The cats liked it too.
I’m proud of myself for working through my issues with it. It was hard to break the association of negative feelings over everything that was going on with the cat but I knew I had it in me to finish and I did. Beau (black) is doing surprisingly well for everything he’s got going on inside him. Now to let his fur grow back from where they had to shave him for the continuous glucose monitor. It’s going to take ages but I’m feeling more positive that he’ll be around long enough for him to be back to his former fluffy glory. Although he’s a bit greasy these days.
My lovely husband took me to the yarn store Warm ‘n Fuzzy for my birthday. I was allowed to pick out whatever I wanted (which I don’t think he realized the implications of) and I found this lovely Hue Loco DK in the colorway Squash. It was fun showing off my husband and finished shawl. The women at the store are just wonderful and properly ooh’d and ahh’d over my shawl.
Now that I’m finished with Travel Mode 2.0, I’ve started on the Beeswax Cowl by Amy van de Laar. I have just the very beginning started but I have knit night tomorrow so I anticipate some progress this week. Ash has already fallen asleep while sniffing the yarn. He’s such a cutie.

What a beautiful shawl! And I love the new yarn that you chose for the beeswax cowl. Hope Beau is doing well.
Thank you! I’m excited about the new cowl. And yes, Beau is doing well right now. 🙂
