So about that plan to spin sock yarn. It’s still part of the plan! But there’s going to be a slight deviation in the form of a scrumptiously soft cowl.
At the Carolina Fiber Fest I found merino/angora blend roving and couldn’t resist.

I didn’t have a knitting project to distract me so I spun it up in record time. It came out beautifully. It’s soft and squishy. It was even surprisingly balanced without having been washed. I still washed it and gave it a nice thwack against the side of the tub a couple times but it hardly needed it. My only complaint is that I ended up covered in bunny dandruff. It was worth it though.

I started first with the Brickless shawl but quickly realized that I wasn’t going to have enough for a reasonably sized shawl. It’s thicker yarn than it looks and I only have 240 yards of it if my calculations from the niddy-noddy are correct.

I scrapped that plan after I got home from my knitting group and started on a simple cowl. Seed stitch boarder and stockinet in the round. Simple. It’ll show off my yarn and be useful in the winter. It’s working up fast. I’m starting to wonder what I’ll do next.
