Halfway through the first set

At the beginning of the year I set goals for myself. Not necessarily resolutions but just things that I’d like to accomplish for the year. It’s pretty standard that I have a goal for more knitting and spinning. Crafting in general. This year I’ve set a specific goal. In an effort to knit more with my own handspun, I want to spin 6 skeins of sock yarn and knit 6 socks with that yarn. I’ve done a year in socks in the past before so this feels like a natural growth.

I’m so pleased to say that I did meet my January goal of spinning a skein of sock yarn. I spun this lovely pink batt from Black Sheep Farm.

Ignore the chip in the bobbin. It still spins just fine!
I call it my Jigglypuff yarn.

I’ve already cast on and am about half way through the socks. When I was plying I was worried about how thick and thin the yarn is (I’m still working on my spinning skills) but the knitted sock isn’t really showing that inconsistency. Which honestly makes me feel more positive about the yarn I’m making. I wasn’t knitting with my own handspun because I don’t care for the look of thick and thin yarn. If it’s not going to show that variation then I’m much more likely to knit with my own yarn. Which is a good thing because I have 5.5 more socks to make.

I’ll post pink socks when they’re done. Half finished socks aren’t much to look at.
