So I’ve been on a knitting slump. I’ve been knitting small things like a pair of socks for the Newbie Knitter and a pair of socks for me.
I’ve started a couple things but for each one I realize that it just isn’t holding my attention and frog it. Then finally, Hubby and I went to the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair (SAFF) and I fell in love with some white cashmere yarn (Bijou Spun by Bijou Basin Ranch – Xanadu). I picked up a couple skeins and petted them the whole way home. While wondering what the lovely yarn was going to become someone posted a picture of one of their finished objects and I fell in love all over again. The pattern and yarn were perfect for each other.
I ripped out my sad attempt at a new shawl and wound up my cashmere. Behold! Soft Full Moon Shawl:
Okay, so it doesn’t look like much yet. But it will. This is the image from the project page:

As a joke I’ve started calling it my ‘ode to no children’ shawl. A pure white, hand knit, 100% cashmere shawl? Glad to have no dirty hands or distractions right now! (Not to mention how much the yarn cost for this project. Ouch! – Just kidding. It’s worth it.)
By the way, the Newbie Knitter is now an award winning knitter. He finally gave in to entering his blanket into the state fair and took home 1st. I’m proud of him. He overcame his fear of lace and found the thrill of winning all in one swoop. Cheers to him! 🙂
