Well it happened. On a trip to Charlotte for a half marathon with Hubby’s family we stopped at the yarn store and got some lace for a new shawl. We made quite a hit at the store with my finished Evenstar shawl. I will admit that I was delighted when they asked to take pictures for their Facebook page. Out of all the yarn stores Yarns Etc is my favorite, and that they recognized the hard work and love that went into making my shawl means a lot.
Now, thanks to their guidance, I’m trying a new brand of lace yarn for the next shawl. It’s called Legacy Lace and is made up of 75% wool and 25% nylon. It’s a bit scratchy but from what I can tell so far is making for well defined stitches.
The project is one I’ve completed multiple times but still keep coming back to. The Swallowtail Shawl was the first lace pattern I took on and I remember being endlessly frustrated with it. Going back to it now shows me just how much I’ve grown in skill. Hopefully I’ll get there soon for my photography skills. The picture in the car of the cast on and first few rows is embarrassingly bad.
It was dark. We were in a moving car. It’s a phone camera.
That is a horrible picture.
