Honeymoon Post 4 – Tofino, BC to Nanaimo, BC

Before I get started in the next section(s) of the honeymoon story, I finished some yarn!

Remember this?

Taylored Fibers

It was from the Carolina Fiber Fest back in April. This is 4oz from Taylored Fibers. It’s made up of 80% merino and 20% silk and cost me $20.

This is the final product:

I’ve named it Mrs. Piggy. It’s very pink. There is a plan for this yarn but I have a shawl to finish before I start on something new (woohoo! Monogamy!)

Now on to the honeymoon!

The plan for the day is to relax and drive, we have a ferry to catch tomorrow morning, but we do have an appointment set up to visit a sheep farm. When we drove across the island the first time (to reach Tofino) we stopped at a store called The Wool Shop.  We picked up some very lovely dark brown lamb fiber (even after the owner asked if I knew how much it cost and if I was sure – not impressed with that). The bag of fiber had contact information and while in Tofino I set up an appointment to visit the farm.

It was GLORIOUS! We had so much fun.

Sheep are adorable. I want one but according to my new friend we need to have at least three (a mini-herd). I’m cool with that. She even said if we ever have our own farm she would sell some sheep to us which is flattering. Our (my) excitement and enthusiasm for learning everything we could from her made an impression.

Sheep make a hilarious “meh” sound rather than the expected “baa”. Hubby enjoyed asking the sheep questions, “what do you think of … ?” “meh.” He thinks he’s a comedian.

While at the farm we picked up some fleece. Romney Fibre (1) Horizon Heritage Farm

Along with the previous fiber from The Wool Shop:

Clearly I’m fond of natural colors. More animals to come!
