Okay I’ll admit it. I’m a slow knitter. Really slow. Turtle’s pace. I can knit gorgeous lace with the rest of them but it takes me twice as long.
It’s not that the acutal knitting portion is slow, in that respect I think I go rather fast, but I have a tendency to get distracted by other things. If I’m knitting I get distracted by pretty roving, and if I’m spinning I can resist my stash’s siren call.
I’m still plodding away on the Evenstar Shawl. At this point I’m being bogged down by the start of chart 3. It has these wonderful twisted stitches and no real zoom zoom WS row.
To distract the crazy people who are actually viewing (and liking/commenting/omg there are people on there!) this pathetic attempt at monogamous knitting I took pictures of my knitting basket. This is sort of a game of “what’s in your purse!” except the live at home next to the couch version.
My basket holds:
- Beekeepers Quilt Kit. The red bag (Rosemary by della Q) holds everything needed to create more puffs. If I ever have a last minute trip and need knitting the is prepared to travel. The bag was gift from Hubby.
- Finished hexipuffs. Just because it’s nice to look down and see things I’ve completed. At some point they’ll need a bigger, less in the way home, but for now they’re decoration.
- Chiagoo interchangeable needle set. These used to live in my craft closet, but I found I needed them so often it was just easier to leave them out. The set was a gift from Hubby.
- A knitting chart keeper with an extra copy of whatever project is currently my main focus. This one holds the chart portion of the Evenstar Shawl pattern.
- A jar filled with roving (and spindles in use). This picture was taken in a moment for brilliance with the knowledge that I would need some blog fodder at some point, so Alfalfa is unfinished in this picture. This jar holds lots of fiber scraps. If I have a bit of fiber that’s not really big enough to make a full skein, or just a little bit that was left over from some other project, it lives here until I spin it into hexipuff yarn.
- Lotion. Depending on what the flavor of the month is for lotion it hides in different places in the basket. Currently hiding under hexipuffs is a Lavishea bar in lavender.
- A yarn bowl from my mini-moon in March. The bowl is from a yarn store in York, Maine called The Yarn Sellar. Let me just say that this was the coolest yarn store I’ve ever been in. There was a huge collection, a shop dog, and an Angora bunny hidden in the back. Plus they had local made yarn bowls which is the perfect crafty souvenir. This bowl usually does hold my yarn while I knit on the couch but only while I’m at home and currently working on the project. It’s unwise to leave yarn unattended in a house with two cats (one of which is under a year old). For some reason they don’t care about the hexipuffs.
That’s my basket. And yes, it is always that tidy. (No really! When it comes to craft supplies I’m meticulous!)
