Beau, Poppy, and the name of this blog

BeauPo is a unique name. I puzzled over the name for this blog for a long time and, while I wanted to do something knitting/spinning related, I wanted something that was memorable for me. Beau and Poppy are the names of our cats.

This is Beau. He’s 3 as of April 3rd, 2014. (Don’t look at me like that. The vet emailed me a happy birthday card on that day.)

This is Poppy. She’s a little over 8 months old. We adopted her on March 12th, 6 days after returning from our mini-honeymoon.

Relaxed and sleepy for once. The best time for interacting with her.

They’re stilling figuring out their relationship. Mostly Poppy is a kitten and Beau is not so arguments over playtime/relaxation techniques break out.

Beau is a fantastic cat. It’s too soon to tell with Poppy, but with Beau to train her to stop nipping at ears during bath time I can’t imagine we’ll have any behavior issues to worry about.

Beau is a champ at not going for yarn while I’m knitting. Sheepy scented fiber while spinning is more difficult but one “No.” and we’re good for the rest of the session. Poppy is a different story. “Is it moving? Can I eat it? I’m gonna eat it. I bet my nails would help with this. Can I eat it?” She’s hopeless, but she’s also a kitten. She’ll learn. Until then I’ll keep collecting bags to hide yarn in.

Speaking of knitting, this is what I’m currently working on. It’s the Evenstar Shawl bySusan Pandorf.

I’m currently on chart two, but I’m fairly close to the end of this section.

More cleaning goaty fibers this weekend.
