Changes and blue

I’ve had some changes in my life recently. For the past 9 years my ex-husband and I have worked together at the same company. I started back when we were still together and we were the “cute” couple at work. I’m grateful that we worked together through it all because it really forced us to get past the awkwardness of navigating our new relationship as friends. But tomorrow is his last day. This is a big change. We met when I was 19 and I moved in with him at 20. I grew up being his partner. We’ve seen each other nearly everyday for the past 16 years. I’m going to miss seeing him everyday like I do now.

In a kind poetic timing, I did something I’ve been thinking about for ages. I sold my Ashford spinning wheel.

I acquired this beautiful wheel in college and likely borrowed money from my ex-husband to make it happen at the time. But it was time. I have a new electric wheel and it’s been a long time since I’ve spun on the Ashford wheel. I sold it to a nice woman who was excited about it. She said she had sheep and was learning to spin with the fleece from her flock. I hope she knows how much I valued this wheel and it’s use in introducing me into the wider world of fiber crafts. I hope she finds as much joy in it as I did.

I’m still working steadily on my Theodore Wrap. To the extent that I had to wind up a second cake of Queen City’s Latta Classic. The blue is just mesmerizing. It’s going to be a stunner of a project when I’m finished.
